Many Voices One Community: the Lynchburg dialogue on Race and Racism will present this one-day conference on the campus of Randolph College, featuring Martha McCoy, executive director of Everyday Democracy, and Wornie Reed, Director of the Center for Race and Social Policy at Virgiinia Tech, with workshop sessions on four tracks; Equity, Opportunity, Action, and Youth, focusing on criminal justice, education, health care, housing, the economy, and community development.

Morning Keynote
Martha McCoy is the Executive Director of Everyday Democracy. Under McCoy’s leadership, Everyday Democracy has become respected as a national organization that excels in helping local communities build their own capacity to organize large-scale, diverse dialogue for problem solving. President Clinton’s Initiative on Race,named study circles as one of the top four “best practices” in race dialogue.


Luncheon Keynote
Dr. Wornie Reed is Director of the Center for Race and Social Policy at Virginia Tech.  Among his other accomplishments, Dr. Reed directed  the project, "Assessment of the Status of African Americans," involving some 61 scholars. The Mission of the Center is to “disseminate original research in the area of public policy with a direct emphasis on race and ethnicity.
