Take a whirlwind tour of the world as you thrill to the sounds of Christmas in foreign climes. Travel to the emerald hills of Ireland with “Christmas in Killarney,” the cobbled streets of Sweden with “Ritsch, Ratsch, Filibom!” and the majestic peaks of the Austrian countryside with “Still, Still, Still.” Continue to the sacred sites of Italy with “O Magnum Mysterium” and “Gesu Bambino,” and on to vibrant Nigerian villages with the percussive “Betelehemu,” and to war-torn Ukraine with “Bell Carol” featuring piano 4-hands accompaniment. Resume your journey with a trip Down Under with the humorous “Aussie Jingle Bells,” visit picturesque Hungary with “Bells in the High Tower,” and then take a jaunt to Catalonia for a celebration of hope engendered by the COVID shutdown as you hear the new piece “Cold December Flies Away.” Making numerous additional stops along the way, come home to the quintessentially American folk song “Go, Tell It on the Mountain.” Launch your holiday season with a musical tour of Christmas Around the World sponsored by the Jefferson Choral Society, Central Virginia’s oldest and largest adult choir.
