The exhibition reveals his extended study of windows at sites of particular interest to him, including the Olson House in Maine. The Maier Museum of Art is home to one such painting: Burning Off (1961), a watercolor
Edgar Degas’ influence upon Mary Cassatt has long been acknowledged, but her role in shaping his artistic production and in preparing the way for his warm reception in America is fully examined in Degas/Cassatt for the first time. Focusing on the critical period from the late 1870s through the mid-1880s when they were most closely allied, this exhibition brings together some seventy works in a variety of media to illustrate the artistic dialogue that developed between them. Cassatt’s Sketch of Mother and Daughter Looking at Baby (ca. 1908) is a part of the collection of the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College. $55 for Maier Members & Volunteers; $65 for all others
