The Randolph College Theatre Department hosts No Shame: Lynchburg every Friday at 10:45 p.m. in the Lab Theatre (Leggett Bldg,, Room 203) on the Randolph College campus, A live venue for performers of all kinds, No Shame: Lynchburg provides a performance space for writers, singers, actors, dancers, and others to showcase original work in 5 minute intervals. Different acts each week: no two shows are the same.

No Shame: Lynchburg happens every Friday in the lab theatre, 2nd floor of Leggett, on the Randolph campus in Lynchburg. Up to 15 original works, each five minutes in length, are performed each week. Performance slots are filled on a first come first served basis. All material performed at No Shame must be original, must not exceed five minutes, and must not break the law or the space.

No Shame Theatres have been around since the mid-80’s. The first No Shame was originally established as a venue for writers to share their most recent work in a live theatrical environment. This first No Shame actually used a truck-bed as a stage and was illuminated by the headlight of a motorcycle. As No Shame grew, it came to encompass all art forms and encouraged all artists to share original work.

One of the original founders, Todd Ristau, is now a professor at Hollins University in Roanoke. Randolph Faculty members Mace Archer and Ken Parks approached Ristau about starting No Shame: Lynchburg. Ristau was very supportive and indicated that there had been talk of No Shame in Lynchburg for quite some time.

The No Shame moniker refers to the supportive environment that No Shame provides the artists. “Sharing new work or exploring controversial ideas can be intimidating,” says organizer Mace Archer. “No Shame encourages artists not to be ashamed of their own efforts or their own ideas.”
No Shame: Lynchburg will open November 12 at 10:45pm on the campus of Randolph College, Lab Theatre, 2nd floor of the Leggett Building. Admission is pay-what-you-can with a recommended admission of $5. Live performance for an Adult audience. For more information, call (434) 947-8563
